Monkey 47 Distiller's Cut is an annual limited-release batch that features a unique and often elusive botanical ingredient. This year, the 48th botanical is Myristicae arillus, the seed covering of nutmeg, also known as Nutmeg Mace. Found in a souk in the United Arab Emirates, this Species Rara was brought to Europe by Arab merchants in the 11th century and was mistaken for the dried blossoms of nutmeg trees. To create the Distiller's Cut, this secret ingredient is added to a macerate containing the 47 botanicals found in the brand's core expression. The botanicals are then distilled again in a second extraction process, aged for three months in earthenware containers, and combined with local spring water.
